Airport Reminding Passengers to Arrive Early
July 6th, 2015. Charlottetown Airport Authority is reminding passengers to allow extra time at the airport for early morning and early evening departures during this peak travel season.
The peak summer travel schedule has started and our airline partners have added additional flights and larger aircraft for this period. This is resulting in longer than normal wait times for airline check-in and security.
Doug Newson, CEO of Charlottetown Airport noted, "We would like the public to be prepared when flying from our airport this summer as over half of our Airport’s traffic is during the summer months.” Newson continued, "There will be more passengers arriving at the airport during peak travel times, especially in the in the early morning from 05:00 to 07:00 and in the early evening from 17:00 to 18:30 departures. We are asking travellers to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before their scheduled flight as airlines recommend, especially during this busy time.”
Airlines have noted that the majority of passengers have been arriving at Charlottetown Airport 60 minutes prior to departure and it is not enough time for the check in process during this peak period. Airlines would also like to remind passengers that there is a 45-minute cut off for check-in prior to the scheduled departure time.
