Charlottetown Airport Traffic Takes Off
The Charlottetown Airport Authority announced their second quarter passenger traffic results today.
"We are very pleased with traffic results so far this year”, stated Airport CEO Doug Newson. "Passenger traffic for the second quarter was up 6.3% over the same period in 2013.”
"There is more good news for 2014 as June traffic was up 11% over last year and this is only the beginning of the summer season”, said Newson. "Seat capacity at the Airport will be almost 15% higher compared to 2013 for the peak summer months of July and August.”
"Our airline partners have added additional flights and larger aircraft for the peak summer travel season. We are anticipating a very busy summer and are grateful to have this extra capacity to accommodate visitors wanting to vacation on PEI this summer,” noted Newson.
The Airport Authority is advising passengers that because of this additional capacity line-ups and processing during peak travel times could be longer than usual. Passengers are advised to allow for additional time, especially for those flying out during the early morning and early evening hours.
